This year there was a huge threat of Cicada's. The kids were excited! We watched the 17 minute video that was viral on Facebook, we talked about them, talked about what happened...and then...they didn't come...at all. We have seen 2 exoskeletons and that is it. Fortunately, while we were visiting Grandma's and Grandpa's house over the weekend, we found one! While the kids loved it, I am glad that it was about dead and not moving to much. If it had been alive and moving, I think it would have scared 2 little boys pretty good! They had alot of fun playing with him and talking to him. I believe they even wanted to bring him home as a pet. Here are a few pics of our cicada!
We like to get up, out and about, mostly in the Central Maryland/Metro DC area and this is our way to share what we have done with you! I love it when someone is looking for something to do, and I am able to give them some good options. I hope this helps you get an idea of something fun to do with your family!

Just around the riverbend....
My aunt lives on a river bank in New Jersey and every summer we get to go to a picnic at her place. It wasn't until last summer when the kids started fishing that they truly enjoyed what was there. They get to fish, play in the river and paddle in some kayaks all while enjoying the company of extended family. Besides the fun we get to have at the river, the views are georgous! My camera has a scratched lens, but the pictures still just show how beautiful it is there and gives the kids a chance to enjoy the outdoors in a way they don't get to at home!
